FAQs

Who is this course for? And is my calligraphy good enough to teach?

The Calligraphy Instructor Academy is for intermediate and advanced calligraphers who want to teach live brush lettering and/or pointed pen calligraphy workshops. You should be very comfortable with whichever calligraphy tool you use in at least one style. For example, I, Dina, consider myself an intermediate calligrapher: I can do modern calligraphy very comfortably and consistently with brush lettering and pointed pen, but I don't know any other styles nor do I know how to flourish.

Please email me at dina@dinacalligraphy or DM dinacalligraphy on Instagram if you have questions about whether or not this course would be a good fit for you. I'm happy to take a look at your calligraphy!

If you are an intermediate calligrapher but feel imposter syndrome or feel nervous about teaching, we'll cover how to combat imposter syndrome in the course.

What's included in the course?

The Calligraphy Instructor Academy comes with 10 modules that consist of video lessons. In total, there are more than 40 video lessons (see curriculum above). The video lesson length will range from 2 minutes to 20 minutes. There will also be a 2-hour Zoom recording of Dina teaching a brush lettering workshop.

In addition, there are also downloadable resources such as Dina's 3-page worksheets that you can use for your beta workshop, master guides for setting up an in-person and virtual workshop, lines in Word and Illustrator format for making your worksheets, and more.

As of 2023, the Facebook group for this course is discontinued, but if you have any questions about hosting workshops after purchasing the course, feel free to email Dina.

What's the difference between the Calligraphy Instructor Academy and the Calligraphy Business Accelerator?

The Calligraphy Instructor Academy is a self-paced standalone course that helps you become a calligraphy workshop instructor. It gives you all the tools and resources needed for you to host your first calligraphy workshop in 8 weeks. It is not a coaching program.

The Calligraphy Business Accelerator is a 4 month group live coaching program that helps you register your business, set up your social media accounts, make a website, get clients through networking, be confident with pricing. communicate with clients, and more. It comes with contract templates and a legal FAQ document. There are live group coaching calls with Dina, a private Slack channel and accountability small group calls. The program is for calligraphers whose niche is calligraphy workshops, wedding calligraphy, an online shop, custom calligraphy, and/or selling calligraphy to businesses (broader in scope than the Calligraphy Instructor Academy).

If you join the Calligraphy Instructor Academy, the Calligraphy Business Accelerator would be the next step up. (You're in luck, if you join the Calligraphy Instructor Academy, you'll get a sweet deal to the Calligraphy Business Accelerator!)

Is this course geared more towards teaching brush lettering or pointed pen workshops?

There are resources (supplies lists, for example) for teaching both brush lettering and pointed pen. The 2-hour Zoom workshop Dina recorded is a brush lettering workshop, but the structure and guidance presented can be applied to pointed pen too.

Generally, if you can do both brush lettering and pointed pen, I'd recommend you start teaching brush lettering first because it's easier to teach beginners, and then add pointed pen as another offer afterward.

Do you guarantee that I'll make a certain amount of money after the course?

This course will give you all the TOOLS to host successful workshops, but it is 100% your responsibility to commit to the program, complete the video modules and do the work. You are the only one who can build your business and make it successful. Just like a fitness instructor can give you all the exercises to do to become fit, you won’t achieve your goals unless you yourself put in the effort and do the work.

I am located outside of North America, will this course still be good for me?

Yes, this course is for calligraphers all around the world who want to host their own workshops. The only parts that may require a bit of your own research are pricing in your location and event ticketing platforms.

Will this course help me sell digital calligraphy courses? What about teaching kids?

The Calligraphy Instructor Academy teaches you to host your own LIVE workshops, either in-person or virtual (on Zoom), for an audience of 6-20 attendees. These are single workshops that only run one session. The tips and guidance in this course are geared towards teaching adults, but you could definitely teach kids.

It will not teach you how to set up, film and sell a digital course. If you are thinking about creating a digital course, teaching LIVE workshops is a great place to start to know what pain points your calligraphy students might have, which would then help you create a digital course that covers all of that.

When do I get access to the course after enrolling?

Instantly!

What currency is the price of this course?

US Dollars (USD).

How long can I access the course content?

You get lifetime access, so forever!

What's the refund policy?

If for any reason you're not satisfied with this course, we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
